Fun With Garage Band

Somebody please stop me. Or at least join me.

As a displacement activity I've been in GarageBand pretty frequently recently.

I have a good deal of music equipment to hook up to GB including:

  • A nice AKG condenser mic
  • Four guitars (1 acoustic, 1 acoustic/electric, 1 electric, and 1 bass) and a couple amps
  • An Alesis mixer that also doubles as a sound card
  • A PODXT amp modeler

In other words, I have it all except any shred of talent. I'm sure there's some poor dude working at Starbucks playing on pots and pans who is the next Beethoven, c'est la vie. I have fun anyway, sorry man.

I recently read an article where a guy actually used GarageBand to record a studio-quality album when he was up in the air about his record contract. I think that's cool.

In any case, if anybody has something cool they've made on their PC that they'd like to share, I'd be into hearing it. ;-) I don't care if you think its crap , I'm in the same boat ...

quit whining! you sound good!

I mean it man.

you owe me a keyboard

I listened to them all and I threw up all over my keyboard.

50% aint bad...

I'll take it.. ;-)

Wow, I had no idea...

Now the online karaoke makes sense. You're a pretty good singer!!

You might also get a kick out of this guy, East River Pipe (aka FM Cornog).

His story is pretty great, and the music is even better. Crystal Queen is a great one...

"point me in the direction of danger"

Any pointers for a newbie Mac user, never-been Garage Band user who started playing guitar 20 years ago, stopped playing 10 years ago, and is haunted nightly by all the "cool" songs and riffs stuck in his head that he'd like to record before he dies?

huh?

ok...the "crap" recording made me feel like I had vertigo at first...but you uncrapped it towards the middle ya log splitter.....
then it ended up totally making me want to sail on and lay my hardware down just to get you to STFU about it already.

;-)

I liked it in other words.

the "boat" song...me likie a lot and "oh yeah" endings always bring a tear to my eye :)
